Moodle Workshops
An intensive "hands on" 2 day workshop at a suitable venue that covers the essential aspects of Moodle required to enable participants to start creating on-line courses.
The workshop is suitable for smaller groups or individuals who are:
- New Moodle users
- Users with basic knowledge who want to develop their knowledge and skills
- Evaluating Moodle as a new or replacement Learning Management System
The workshop includes:
- A Moodle site for the workshop activities
- Training activities
- All resources used in the activities
Overview:
The workshop is a highly participative event that covers the process of creating a course in Moodle focusing on the principal activity modules, management of course files, sharing and archiving resources and monitoring course activity.
Structure:
The workshop activities are arranged in sections as follows:
1. Course creation and layout modification
2. Adding resources
3. File management
4. Adding activities - Forum, Choice, Chat, Glossary, Quiz, Wiki, Assignment
5. Archival, importing and sharing resources
6. Monitoring user activity
Approach:
Under the guidance of the trainer, participants construct a complete course using the functionality within Moodle. Wherever possible activities build upon each other in order to stimulate ideas about how to use the various tools in a "live" situation.
Participants are required to experience participation as a student in courses created by others.
Activities are designed to be "neutral" so that participants may derive equal benefit from the workshop regardless of their area of topic expertise, sector i.e. academic or business and the age of their target learners.

Administrator course.
This intensive one day course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the administrative functions of a Moodle site.
Participants will learn how to adapt the layout of a Moodle site, how to manage users (including authentication, enrolments, course groups and the roles system), back up an entire site and individual courses. In addition, participants will explore many of the features which impact on the experience of tutors and learners.
